No issues since though. In my opinion this is a design defect in the shift mechanism. I had the same problem. Cost me $470 to fix. I have filed a complaint with the safety board. What it does is "stutter" through the shifts between gears up to 20-25 mph. I took it back to the dealer and they said it was the adaptive learning system and it was normal.

What I have found works to get around it are 2 things -- 1) Keep your foot on the brake until after you shut the engine off. Also, pressing the brake while you jiggle the shifter can help too. Or 2) exercise the shifter from park to low and back 3 or 4 times. These are work arounds.
