How to remove pto shaft from implement.
Because of the plastic cover on the shaft, I can barely get my hand in to pull on the connection. And I can't get it to budge. The only video I can find is on a large tractor, not a close-up of what he's doing, and it appears he can grab the shaft with one hand while pulling the connection back with the other hand.

If it's that tight, odds are the lock (balls) aren't releasing completely and or the shaft had paint on it. When you get it off, take some time and look at both the tractor side and the tiller side for paint, dirt or a rough machined spot. Clean or polish as necessary and it gets much better. Treefarmer.

Doesnt take much resistance to thwart getting it off. Lube. Tap it. Find a safe pry point, etc. You probably just need a little more pull force to make it move. Sounds like the splines on the shaft where it goes into the engagement collar might be twisted, and so the collar is stuck to the PTO shaft and 4 to 5 inches sounds like the linkage from the engagement handle is still connected to the collar. Try removing the round plate on the left side of the tractor where the PTO engagement handle is.
