Infantry only is perfectly viable provided you make sure you keep enough mounts in your inventory to keep your speed up, too many will slow you down so about 1 per soldier does the trick. Sturgian heavy spear and axe infantry are apparently the best in the game but vlandian is apparently the worst. Horse archer only army is amazing.
Noble troops do not appear with enough consistency or numbers in the base game to make them a core part of an army. Which means that creating a theme or gameplay feel for a culture's army relies almost entirely on their basic troops. Noble lines just add some exciting spice to the dish. Aserai, Vlandians, Empire, and Khuzait all get noble lines ...Best cav : Cataphracts and Druzhinnik are at about the same lvl of performance. However, the real best cav unity is the Khan's guard. Glaive is op. My party is composed of roughly 100 Fians, 100 Druzhinnik as a mobile infantry and about 80-100 khan's guards. Moreover, I have 300 medecine with minister of health.Tier 5 they switch from falx to romphalia which sucks. Stay at tier 4 tho and they are one of, if not THE best infantry unit in the game. Line em up shieldwall style in front of fians in loose formation on a hilltop and go make yourself a sammich. I suggest turkey with a little Mayo. Maybe some cool ranch Doritos and a Coca Cola.
If they have lots of archers, square formation can be painful.. but still beats other alternatives. For example, you have infantry in square formation ahead of your archers. Enemy infantry tries to envelope your square, then you charge. Feb 5, 2022 · The player can easily use infantry to completely negate enemy cavalry, archers, and other infantry with the right amount of archers to back them up. You may have a point about party speed except for the fact that the mounted infantry bonus from having horses in your inventory is sufficent to outspeed AI parties.

Best infantry: aserai have decent shock infantry with the palace guard but from my experience most people go with imperial legionaries as their front line due to their strong armour and shield.

The Sturgian spearmen have the best shield coverage which is helpful against archers and they're the best infantry against cavlary. The axemen and legionaries are much better against infantry as they both have much better offense, which includes thier throwing weapons, than the spearmen. Here, hps are at 100 and can go up to 110-120 at best. In warband, base hps was lower but could get 2 times higher than a level 1 (also damages were much lower at base, making everything tankier in warband). Imagine if legionaries or this new elite T6 could have 200 hps, there it would make a real difference.
Honestly I’ve never had to defend against another army in bannerlord, but one of my cities did get attacked when I was away and I lost about 200 troops between my garrison and militia. I’ve had to defend countless times in warband though. Lmk if this helps.
