Dodge durango intermittent starting problem.

I got it to start and run for about 3 seconds but then it turned itself off. I found a way to start it on this site by putting it to run mode and then starting it, that works okay but if I paid 27k for a car it needs to work as intended. This also leads me to think if it has problems now what's gonna happen 5 years down the road.It had some starting/idling issues. It was a 92 Dakota 3.9 v6 with 168k miles on it. Found out later that some wires under the throttle thing were shorting and thusly causing it to not idle/ stay running on cooler days. It was a good truck. Some of the behavior suggests a battery problem and I note you replaced the battery and the engine started and ran a bit but then died.
