The owner of this early 16ga A5 believes it is a first year gun. The factory stamped serial number on the loading port looks like serial number 5300. This is out of the first year range. It also has a second number stamped on the loading port, 34212. This number appears to have been added later.I have recently acquired what looks like a Browning auto 5 with a date code of "d" which means either 1925 or 1965. Starting in 1968 the numbers went to 2 digits (68V) because they had used 8v already for the first year of production in 1958. I can't make your date code look like any of the examples, but it might not be the original barrel. An early 1956 gun would probably have a barrel made in 1955. As to the right parts, the later Breech Blocks and Locking Blocks will fit a pre-1958 gun. The only difference is the width of the rail.
