Certainly a lot more birds in the state and generally leads to better hunting, especially if you can get onto some lower-pressure private ground.

Wind (above 20) generally sucks. I like to hunt wind once in a while, but it takes mental preparation and tends to take a lot out of you. Wind is manageable and you can usually wait for a different day.I hunt the residents' weekend in early October through the end of January, public (or publicly accessible) land about 97% of the time. Early in the season, I don't start hunting until early/mid afternoon, or possibly even just the last 1-1/2 hours of the day. I rarely pull up to a spot & find it being hunted.
