I have volunteered to help a friend with a JD 420. It has no spark. What I have done so far: Checked plugs and wires, did resistance check on coil, 5 ohms on the primary 13K ohms on the secondary. I have battery volts to the positive side of the coil, 10.6 volts during cranking. With spark plugs in engine, key in on position, placed ohm meter on positive and negative of the coil - reading is 17 ohms.
