I just fixed an XP yesterday that (2) dealerships and $1000 later couldnt fix. THey put a new belt, new ECU, and new plugs and a dyno run and still couldnt fix it.Mar 22, 2011 · It has a 2 wire harness leading to it. Unplug that harness and turn the key on. The fan should default to on (running). That is a safety feature to keep the engine from overheating if the thermistor goes bad or the harness comes unplugged. If the fan doesn't come on with that harness unplugged, the ECM is probably bad.Jan 22, 2023 · Check for dirty terminals on the ect sensor and retest. IMO all of your wiring is good because when the ect sensor is unplugged the ecm commands the fan to a predetermined speed based on a faulty sensor. Also the temp sensor must be reading some sort of resistance within spec if the fan does not engage when the harness is connected.Jun 28, 2016 · Put the key in and it started right up. FIXED. And, the best part is the cost of the repair was about 1/3 the cost of a new one. I am going to install battery disconnects, because the ECM stays powered up from the battery. Hopefully, this will prevent the ECM from failing again. Rather than give Polaris $500 for a new ECM, call ModuleMaster first.
