Honda odyssey spool valve leaking.
The VCM engine has a VTEC solenoid valve assembly on the drivers side end of the rear cylinder head. The gasket and filter are easy to replace and that is a common source of oil leakage with this engine. There is another VTEC assembly down around the oil filter with a very similar gasket, and it is also known to leak.

Valve cover gasket leak - 4% of the time. My 2013 Odyssey has gone through three alternators in a year and I knew I had an oil leak somewhere but I couldn't find where it was coming from until just now. Did some research and found that it's a common problem for the spool valve gasket to start leaking in these things and it leaks straight onto the alternator and kills them.

First, I checked under the vehicle to notice two different spots where’s oil leaking, under the oil pan and under the transmission.Save yourself from tearing apart the front head to fix this oil leak. Sadly, Honda doesn't sell the gasket and you need to buy the whole VTEC assembly, this also requires you to remove the front valve cover and camshaft assembly to replace it. This is only evident when the Car is running for longer period of time but when this does happens I can smell a bit of a burning sensation. I'm assuming the oil is leaking down to the alternator area etc.For your sake, I hope it is the gasket shown as #12 and not the internal spool valve gasket. The internal gasket failed on my 2007 and there is no available replacement short of replacing the entire spool valve.
