We visited the Chichen Itza ruins the first week of April 2008. We did this through a Carnival Cruise line excursion. Like other reviewers mention, plan for it to be very hot--sunscreen, large hat or an umbrella is definitely a must! Although the time was brief (about 2 hours at the ruins), the opportunity to experience Chichen Itza was awesome.Just rent a car and go to chichen itza. 5.5 hours on a bus ride in the morning just to get to a cheap souvenir shop and bad lunch.
