Do not try fighting wild wyverns with one though (or at least just fight them one at a time) as a mounted Wyvern melts through stamina quickly with breath attacks and is far less maneuverable, an unmounted one is also unideal since it might end up taking the fight further into the trench and get swarmed by other Wyverns.

I had to wait near the trench for a while, reason is the map only renders when you are nearby. So if you leave the trench cause there are no eggs and go back to base, the trench is just I'm hibernation mode and everything will be right where you left it. That same wyvern attack a trike will still be fighting that trike when you go back.

Lure away as many wyverns as you can beforehand, then take the whole flock with you into the trench. Land, grab an egg, and fly like the wind. All the wyverns in the area will come after you. Stealing one egg doesn't aggro the entire trench, look for a spot with few wyverns, lure them, kill them. The problem with Scorched is that there aren't really any fast fliers till you have a Wyvern.
