Designate a useless zone over the bed (like office, or clay gathering spot). Assign one of your dwarves to any of the medical positions in the hospital, and give him all the medical labors. Your injured dwarf goes to rest in the bed, and your medical dwarf will diagnose him. Then you'll know what else you need. #4.

You need a diagnostician set up in a hospital zone to diagnose the dwarfs, then you can see the injuries they have and if they have been sutured/splinted or not by other healthcare dwarfs.
