I got to thinking about my insurance and looked it up on here--not much written about it so I thought I'd say something about Sidecar. I want to recommend this to anyone who's self-employed, or who is unemployed and thinks healthcare.gov won't work for them. I lost my regular gig (and health coverage) a while back, and signed up with Sidecar.

The young and healthy who are unlikely to need major medical care. Those who have a catastrophic plan and want a way to make routine care more affordable. Bad for Sidecar has paid all of my expenses and even more so far these 2 years. I haven't had anything more catastrophic than a two-mile ambulance ride and two bags of saline, but that was mind-bendingly expensive EVEN WITH insurance. Insurance didn't cover the ambulance (unlike Sidecar), and my share of it was $3500. Sidecar would only recognize a few of the line items totaling $3642 and said they will only pay $498.45 and I had to pay the rest on my own. Sidecar has you send a prebill and will authorize what you can spend in advance. They also incorrectly put on my prebill that I was discounted $2214 by my medical provider.
