The serial number (BAF2923) indicates this revolver was produced in 1988. The actual barrel length, as you noted, is 1 7/8". This was always identified as a 2" barrel by the company, and that is how it would referred to. It is the most common length on both the Chiefs Special Model 36 and the Chiefs Special Airweight Model 37. So, it should have a Mod. 15-? stamp inside the yoke in front of the cylinder. If it is a CM, it will have either a 2" or 4" barrel with adjustable rear sight and ramped front sight.
