I have both the mild and medium. Quit cartridge razor's as I was getting bad razor burn on my neck to the point people were asking if I have been choked. I prefer the medium for my neck, but I started learning with the mild. Both will do you well and I think either should work. There isn't much difference in aggressiveness between the two.

If you see any swelling, itching, redness, or hives, the cream is the culprit. It's canadian prices btw. All these ceramic bowls wouldn't last one bounce. They are pretty though. Suribachi (grinding bowl) are by far the most effective lather bowls. They are expensive though and try to get one bigger than 5 - 8 inches diameter.
